My Raavanan movie review

I had high expectations on Mani Ratnam's new flick... IMO he has never gone wrong in any of his films... his films are somehow fit in a backdrop of ugly reality, with a emotionally touching story embedded within.. eg Kannathil Muttamital, Anjali, Roja, Dilse... This time MR decides to make a film based on the Hindu epic, Ramayan.

Vikram as the bad@$ Veera, loved by his tribe, speaking some difficult tamil dialect (i suspect i'd hv perfectly understood the dialect spoken in hindi, would hv been most likely bhojpuri) - just as Ramayan's Raavan he has his 'sister' factor to abduct the modern day Sita. Vikram did a pretty good job, but i felt he overreacted in certain parts.

Prithviraj as the good cop Dev, managed to keep a smiley face throughout difficult situations, which at times seems a lil cynical, and we wonder if he is acting as a villain within. On another note, he looks damn good, as handsome as Ram is said to be. The downside is poor chap had very little role to play, and in that little role, he had minimal emotions displayed.

Aishwarya as the pretty Ragini, keeps one look throughout the film, a certain pouty face of hers that we see in the promos. As the ramayan Sita, Aishwarya does not live to expectations... wish there was more character given to her.

When i first saw the trailors, the visuals and stills seemed so perfectly put i was almost certain that MR would be able to justify them in the film... But sadly while watching the movie, those 'picture perfect' scenes seemed forced into the screenplay, or rather, the screenplay was created to wrap around the 'stills'?

The cinematography and the background music were awesome, perhaps the best things about the film. Scenes between Veera & Ragini are like choreographed in such a way that they seem ridiculous. The first half was very draggy, 2nd half was more worth it. However the audience wont feel any kind of sympathy when the Dev-Ragini couple finally reunites, neither would they, because till the end it was only about capturing Veera. And why in the world did the team of army have to shoot Veera continuously? To kill all his 10 heads? How come it was so easy for Ragini to go back and find Veera, when the police were not able to do it all along?

Mummy's Reviews

In the midst of moving on with 'higher level' CDs, I came across this review on AIO diapers - Bottombumpers Side Snapping AIO Cloth Diapers.

Mummy's Reviews

I will definitely KIV Bottombumpers for my next step with cloth diapers... AIO perhaps will be more convenient as the shells can be reused... and not to mention it comes with
organic cotton and topped with bamboo velour, super gentle & safe for baby's skin.

My cloth diaper steps

Being a new mommy, I explored every single modern products to best suit my baby's needs and my convenience as the super busy mother in the city.

One such 'modern' product I came across is the modern cloth diaper. No, I am not talking about traditional square pieces of cotton fabric that we fold into what looks like a baby napkin. After 2 months of using baby napkin on my newborn, I got tired of the amount of laundry I had to do daily, and told myself 'there's gotta be better way for this'.

I have been frequenting the Malaysian Brides forum ever since my pregnancy. Not only i met many new mothers, fellow pregger ladies, I also picked up a lot of tips and information that are sincerely shared by frequent posters there actually provided plenty of insights for me to prepare for the coming delivery and motherhood.

One such information that came in very handy for me is the modern cloth diaper. In a nutshell, it is a washable & reusable diaper with the convenience of a disposable. Gosh, was I new to this world, there are terms and jargons that is totally German to me... thank god someone gave me this link: CD glossary

I've started off with One size pocket diapers, with baby growing rapidly in first few months, it been the most convenient in washing as well as accommodating his growth, and hey, it is also daddy friendly... as long as they know how to put on a dispos for baby, cloth diapers are just a snap - literally!

My big guy's current obsession

There's a lot of swearings, shoutings and bangings in my house lately.. ranging from 7.30pm up to 2.30am. No, it is not domestic violence I am speaking of here, but the current craze, World Cup 2010.

To stay in the game, I am sort of keeping up with the matches and score, more like, I am constantly being fed with information and updates on the games by dear hubby, just to ensure that I am not left out, and can at least support the same team as him... like that makes a difference, but given the fact that I am clueless about soccer, at least I get some heads up for conversations between the half time, if I am still awake, that is.

It amazes me how a World Cup fan can get so emotional and responsive to each and every stupid or smart moves their favorite team makes, and actual comments are made out loud, as if the players can somehow hear and accept some feedback to improve their game.

Speaking of which, sounds like a great idea for future technology advancement, why not provide method to communicate with players while they are playing... and why not choose a lucky fan to comment and possibly improve their tactics? I'll vote for dear hubby... any future Bill Gates listening?

My Avent bottles leaking dilemma

Like many mothers out there I spared no mercy stashing for my pride and joy. After extensive research and recommendations, I settled for Avent PES bottles for my baby, for the BPA free and anti colic features.

My husband in particular loved the anti colic feature that uses valves - he is mechanical engineer specialising in valves, mind you, he fully agreed that this is the correct bottle for our Sanju.

Imagine my horror when one day while feeding my little boy, the milk starts spilling from the neck & teat. It was so frustating and disappointing, and not to mention baby's top is all wet.

I rushed online for some solutions. The
http://mecrunchy.blogspot.com/2008/01/solution-to-avent-bottle-leak.html proved to be pretty useful, at least I knew that I am not the only one seeing this, for a while I thought i had purchased some reject batch or something.

The method works at some point, but later I started seeing the problem again. The I discovered a method when tightening the ring onto the bottle. The trick is when u tighten the ring onto the bottle, do not fully tighten it, while tightening u will hear some air coming out... that activates the valve that will let the air into the bottle as your baby drinks. Additionally, just gently shake your bottle to let more air out, and after that test the bottle, it should not leak.

Try it... feedbacks & comments welcome.

My truth, nothing but the truth

This can't be happening. This can't be true.

Everyday I still have to pinch myself to remind myself, this is not a dream, not a hallucination of my overly imaginative & hyper mind. More than a year back I was busy planning for our wedding. And about 10 months back I was a desperately bored housewife whose daily routines were cook-watchtv-clean-sleep. Later, after confirming the good news with the GP, we patiently went through the 9 months of parenthood prep... yes indeed it prepared us for future addition to our family.

Yes, the lil baby waking up beside me every morning belongs to me. His eager eyes look for me, and my very sight excites him to exercise his muscles out by kicking into the air and making various baby words. His smile means a thousand things for me, and his kisses cost millions (dont bite me, this is a fixed rate determined by his father).

Still, I sometimes wonder if this is real, pinch me, someone!

My first...

Dear friends, web dwellers and fellow bloggers, welcome to my blog!

This is officially my inaugural post to officially officiate my official blog like so-so-so officially! I wish to share the baby steps of my life, from yesterday, on today, and for tomorrow. As a girl in the city, a lost teenage in the big school, a wife to a husband who loves to eat, and a mother to my little angel. I think I shall keep the first official post short. More posts coming up later. Stay tuned!
